  • What are “rare” Ragdoll colors?

Be aware that there are some Ragdoll breeders advertising so called “rare” Mink, Solid, or Sepia Ragdolls. These experimental colors have not been accepted by any major registering association, such as TICA or CFA. Because they are not accepted within the Ragdoll breed standard, in major associations like CFA, they cannot be registered as a purebred Ragdoll. These variations cannot be shown in any major cat association to obtain titles, therefore the majority of reputable breeders will not have them in their breeding programs.

  • Are Ragdolls good with children?

Ragdolls are amazing with children! That said, if you are bringing a kitten into a home with small children especially, it is imperative that you supervise interactions between kitten and children at all times to ensure the safety of both, especially in the beginning. Small children can often behave inappropriately or even be unintentionally cruel toward a kitten, and it is important that there is adult supervision.

  • Is it safe for a Ragdoll to live outdoors?

No, it is not. We do not allow our cats to go outdoors. Due to the laid back and docile disposition of the Ragdoll, it puts them in harms way for potential aggressive outdoor animals to prey upon them. Keeping them entirely indoors is the only way to fully protect a Ragdoll from the many outdoor dangers. Once a cat gets comfortable with the outdoors, they are more apt to run outdoors if the door is open. There are many reports of cats supervised on a leash that are attacked by neighborhood or stray dogs, there are also many internal and external parasites that your cat can pick up even in the short amount of time outdoors. Please keep your cats indoors for their safety.

  • Why are Ragdolls so expensive?

The financial burden of breeders is not so well-known. Purebred Ragdolls of breeding and show quality cost more. We at Baby Blues personally paid between $4-5k PER CAT for our kings and queens. Expenses, veterinary needs are high, we travel to shows, belong to breed clubs (pay for pedigrees and so many other things), and must be prepared for pay for any vet emergencies. We have websites, advertising, health testing, and providing everything our cats need. Stud service is not in the best interest of our Queens (too much risk of disease), and artificial insemination isn’t really used in cats. We must purchase a new King/Queen on a regular basis. To purchase a new breeder cat/kitten to replace one retiring, cost is upwards of $3-5K within the US, double or triple that if overseas. That could be 50-200% of the cost of an entire litter! There is always a chance…

  • Will you ship your Ragdolls?

No, we no longer can ship pet kittens because of a new law went into effect in 11/2013, that prevents breeders from shipping kittens to families. The law now states that kittens must be seen in person. You are welcome to drive to our home and pick up your kitten, or fly into the Dallas or OKC airport, and we can meet you there. We are willing to travel to bring your kitten to you, so long as you live within a 3-hour driving distance of Duncan, OK.
